Automata & Kinetic Sculpture
My passion. Designing and building automata as a way of telling a story, educating or conveying an emotion is what gets me out of bed every morning. My long term goal is to build larger (wall and bookcase style) installations.
I’m just getting started. I am currently working on a 26 piece series about a robot trying to find enlightenment as part of a challenge called the Alphabet Superset.
Writing (something new)
I wrote an article for Automata Magazine titled “Challenge Accepted” about my struggles with the fear of failure and how I am using an art challenge to help myself overcome that fear. The article made the cover of the May-June issue of the magazine and has encouraged me to write a bit more often about my journey.
I am just getting started, so for the moment I am updating when I have time and feel like I have something to share that might be helpful or interesting to everyone. I also am working on a newsletter, so if you want to follow along on this journey, subscribe and catch the very first issue!
Artist Collaboration
I help other artists with design struggles and work with them to help understand the basic mechanics of automata. I love collaborations and feel that working together benefits everyone in the maker space.
I believe in artists supporting artists and trading services for services. Reach out if you need some help and let’s see if we can work together.
I belong to several local and online artist communities that help support makers.
